21st Annual Symposium

September 8-9, 2006

The 21st annual QLA conference was held at the TradeWinds Island Grand Resort in St. Pete Beach, FL.  It attracted a record 175 members and guests from 27 states, including 52 first-time attendees.  Three BCIR surgeons, Drs. Ernest Rehnke, Don Schiller and Ronald Gaskin attended the conference.  Two key addresses highlighted Symposium activities.  Featured were Dr. Jeffrey Paonessa, whose specialty is hematology and medical oncology, and keynote speaker Dorothy Doughty, RN, program director of the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing (WOCN) educational program, Emory University in Atlanta.  The fund-raising auction set a record raising $14,260.  Paul Wannenmacher was presented with the William O. Barnett Harbinger Award which recognizes outstanding service to QLA.
