It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of one of QLA’s charter members, Jay Searcy.  Jay, a native of Oak Ridge, TN died on Saturday December 29th at the age of 84.  His career spanned 44 years as sportswriter and editor for several publications including the New York Times and the Philadelphia Inquirer.  Since the Quality Life Association’s inception in 1985, Jay and his wife Jackie have been avid supporters of QLA and friends to many of the membership.  Beginning in 1987 Jay served for several years on the QLA board including being the 5th president.  He was also editor of Horizons from 1988-1990, 1992-2000 and 2004-2007.  He was presented the QLA Harbinger Award in 1993.
His talent, subtle wit, giant
personality and most of all his
friendship will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, Jay’s family has requested memorial donations be sent to QLA.
